Our Origins
We are Karapincha
We are two Sri Lankan twin sisters, bringing our mother’s recipes to life inside our group of authentic Sri Lankan cafes and small kitchens. We were raised on homely, feel good Sri Lankan dishes passed down through generations, and are proud to bring the joy of our spice-fuelled food to faces old and new every day.
Real food grown from our roots...
Born in Kandy, Sri Lanka and with a family legacy of owning the most popular vegetarian restaurant in Colombo, we carry with us the greatest memories and influences from the South Asian island where we grew up.
Our cooking is fuelled by flavoursome, and often fiery, spices so we chose the name “Karapincha” which originates from the Sinhala word for curry leaf – an important ingredient that lies at the very heart of our dishes and is used in the majority of our hand-ground spice blends, giving them their inimitable, multifaceted flavour.

Our dishes are lovingly inspired by our mother’s authentic home-cooked meals in Sri Lanka. Our aim is to bring the unique experience of fresh vegetables and coconut milk infused curries to our customers.

Our commitment to using fresh vegetables and coconut milk in our curries not only ensures delicious flavour all around, but also makes our vegetarian options vegan-friendly (and just as good).

We take pride in selecting locally sourced meats produce that meets our high standards. Our commitment to quality extends to our use of genuine Sri Lankan spices, ensuring an authentic culinary experience.
CURRIES
Rice and curry, the reigning culinary king of Sri Lanka’s food scene, showcases fiercer flavours than its neighbouring India those originating from neighbouring India. Our curry sauces are enriched with coconut milk and fiery chilli sambols.

We provide our customers with a delicious and memorable dining experience that doesn’t feel costly. We want our food to be accessible to all.
OUR SPICES & POWDERS
At Karapincha, we remain rooted in our traditions by exclusively using hand-ground spices from Sri Lanka, sourced directly from the renowned Perumal family.

Opening in Canary Wharf, Karapincha is a Sri Lankan restaurant from twin sisters Vasanthini and Dharshini Perumal, who have been making regular appearances at food markets across London. The menu will include devilled chicken with fried rice and kothu roti.
